If you’re looking for adventure then stunning South Africa is the place to go. Offering a diverse range of people and places, from beautiful rolling landscapes to cosmopolitan cities, there is something for everyone. For adrenalin junkies and adventurous types alike, there are a number of exciting opportunities to get your pulse racing. Here is a guide to five activities that are sure to get your adventure holiday off to an energetic start.

1. Bungee Jumping in Tsitsikamma.

What could be more adventurous than a bungee jump – the highest one in the world at that? Make a moment that you will never forget and indulge the adrenalin junkie in you at Bloukran’s Bungee in Tsitsikamma. Freefalling into a huge canyon with beautiful scenery surrounding you is definitely something you want to be ticking off the bucket list. Don’t think you can do it? The hardcore dance music blaring around the jumping platform is sure to get you in the mood.

2. Ostrich Riding in Oudtshoorn

Been horse riding but want something more exhilarating? Your unusual steed is sure to provide an adventure. The stunning region of Oudtshoorn is renowned for its wine and, of course, its huge population of Ostriches. Be sure to check out the road side stalls selling a huge array of intricately designed Ostrich eggs.

3. Shark Cage Diving in Cape Town

This really is one for the adventurous. Take to the waters and swim with the most dangerous creature on the planet. Swap the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town for the South African sea and give yourself a story to tell when you’re back home.

4. Canopy Trails in Tsitsikamma

Remember how much fun the zip wire at the playground was when you were a child? The canopy trails in Tsitsikamma bring a whole new adventure to this childhood favourite. Fly above the trees from one side of the forest to the other, and see if you can beat your opponents in a race against time.

5. Hiking in Coffee Bay

For a more relaxed adventure, why not check out some of the hiking trails around Coffee Bay? The rolling hills provide a great backdrop to explore in the South African sun and the end of the route opens out onto one of South Africa’s many beautiful beaches, the perfect spot to get your breath back.

From slow paced hiking, to bungee jumping and diving with Great White sharks, South Africa really is a travel destination for the adventurous. Along with contrasting landscapes and a laidback way of living, you really won’t be disappointed.
