Short and sweet today.
One of the most common questions I get asked by readers is how to find clients. But not just any old clients – decent clients that pay well. Finding clients consistently is not an easy task, particularly if you have no idea where to start.
At the start of my freelancing career, I read TONNES of articles about finding clients that covered things like jobs boards, cold-pitching, and content mills. Some of this advice was good, some of it was terrible and vague.
But the most valuable thing I’ve learnt as a freelancer is that it’s important to find a system that works for YOU and your business. The clients in the niche you work in might be more perceptive to cold-pitching, while someone else’s dream client might prefer a warmer method.
While it takes some trial and error to get going, it’s important to actually GET going. I know there are plenty of budding freelancers out there who are stagnating in their businesses because they don’t know how to move forward. They don’t know how they can change their methods to land the clients they really want.
The result?
They end up working for the same kinds of client, earning the same amount of money, and wishing they had the secret ingredient for making it big.
SPOILER ALERT: there is no secret ingredient!
Instead, I like to think of it more as the “perfect combination” of techniques that leads to finding clients you love working with.
Instead of just writing some of these techniques out in a post, I’m actually going to be running a free masterclass on the 27th January that goes into detail about finding clients.
I promise it won’t cover the usual shebang, like jobs boards and content mills. In fact, there’s going to be some seriously juicy information in there that I think will help you and your business loads.
Introducing the Find Lucrative Freelance Clients TODAY masterclass
So, what can you expect from the masterclass:
What’s worked for me
I’ll start by highlighting some of the places I’ve found my favourite clients, including the exact processes I went through to start working with them.
Building relationships
One of the key ways to build a consistent pool of awesome clients is to create lasting relationships and connections with like-minded people. This is vital to getting repeat work, referrals, and finding your ideal client.
During this section we’ll talk about WHERE you can find your ideal clients to build relationships and HOW you can start connecting with them.
Creating your own space
We’ll also talk about how you can leverage your own space on the internet to land the clients you want (with some examples from me). This section will also include a short bit about SEO and creating amazing content that draws in the people you want.
We’ll also touch on your “hire me” page, and what kinds of things you need to include on that.
Landing more lucrative clients
Finally, I’ll share the one method I use that lands me the most lucrative clients. This section will include a step-by-step account of the process, including email templates and sample pitches.
Q&A
We’ll finished with a short Q&A section, where you can ask any questions you have about finding clients, or simply ask me to clarify some of the points mentioned. It might be handy if you rock up with a couple of questions already in mind.
By the end of it, you should have three new ways you can go out and start getting clients TODAY (that don’t evolve a race to the bottom or sending off thousands of applications to low-paying jobs!).
This masterclass is for you if:
- You’re a new freelancer looking for a solid set of ways to land clients consistently
- You’re an established freelancer looking for ways to refresh your client base and land more lucrative work
- You’re interested in knowing how other freelancers get clients
Masterclass Details
Okay, so the masterclass will take place on January 27th at 7pm GMT (that’s 2pm EST and 11am in Pacific Time). There will hopefully be a replay (if I can figure out the tech side of things in time!), but it’d be great to have you there live – I think you’ll get the most out of it that way, as you’ll be able to ask questions live.
I’d love to see you there! Sign up below to save your spot, and I’ll send you a reminder on the day!

Love this, Lizzie! I’ve been freelancing for a few years now. I completely agree – it is SO important to build relationships. Building relationships leads to referrals and great connections with your clients. Referrals are my #1 source of work.
It’s a small world. I always remember to be kind. Chances are, someone you’re working with knows someone else. It pays off to be kind, and to be good to your clients.
Yes, so, SO important, right?! Being kind is always, always top of my list, no matter what I’m doing. Thanks for stopping by, Melissa!
